NEWS | £50,000 MBA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ENGINEERS NOW AVAILABLE AT SIX UK BUSINESS SCHOOLS
Published On: Tuesday, 8th Oct 2024
EIBF, the charity that promotes the importance and value of business education for engineers announced today that it has added five new UK business schools to the list of 14 approved schools.
The Sainsbury Management Fellows Scholarship programme was founded in 1987 by Lord Sainsbury of Turville, who hoped that learning business skills through world-class MBA studies would help engineers to set up their own high-tech businesses or progress to the top of large UK companies.
The programme has been very successful, with more than 400 engineers graduating from top international business schools. Known as Sainsbury Management Fellows (SMFs), these business school graduates have created over 300 new companies worth almost £5 billion along with more than 21,000 jobs in the UK.
Along with Imperial College Business School, which is already on the list of eligible schools, the following five have been added:
- Saïd Business School, University of Oxford
- Cambridge Judge Business School
- Warwick Business School
- Alliance Manchester Business School
- Cranfield School of Management
EIBF has also announced that it is opening up its application process to applicants who have not yet secured a place at business school. Successful candidates will be able to apply to business school, secure in the knowledge that they have financial resources.
David Falzani MBE, President of EIBF, said: “We are excited that this will be a boost to social mobility and support those brightest of candidates who would benefit from the SMF programme but are less financially confident. It also means we can offer mentoring and MBA application support for those who wish to enter a top school. Given that this will increase the number of applicants, we also require that a GMAT must be taken before applying to the scholarship, in order to demonstrate commitment to an MBA.”
EIBF works with the Royal Academy of Engineering, which administers the scholarship application process. Applications are now open for the Sainsbury Engineering Management Fellows Scholarships.
EIBF has also launched a parallel MBA scholarship programme for scientists, to further aid the economic prosperity of the UK and to help build on its leading reputation in scientific research. EIBF is partnering with the National Physical Laboratory to administer the scholarship application process and applications for the Sainsbury Science Management Fellows Scholarships are now open at https://www.npl.co.uk/sainsbury-management-fellowships
EIBF will award 16 engineering and science MBA scholarships per annum.
