"When you reach the top, be sure to send the elevator back down” – I didn’t come up with the quote but I certainly share the sentiment.

Of course, it’s a highly personal decision how one defines reaching the top, and another personal decision how one chooses to ‘pay it forward’. In my case, I look back at my career and count both my MBA and the SMF network as being the two most influential factors in supporting my entrepreneurial career. The MBA argument is clearly understood by this audience, but I’d like to emphasise how much the SMF network has been a fantastic source of advisors, clients and partners, staff, PR and support group of like-minded entrepreneurs.

My career has now spanned submarines, nuclear, noise & vibration, automotive distribution, pharmacy, brewery dispense manufacture and sales, high end motorcycle retailing, illegal drug detection technology and lobbying for requisite legislation and on top of all of that, small business consulting. Legacy

A legacy donation would come from an estate free from inheritance tax. An amendment to a Will would be required to contribute this in this way.

If you plan to leave a legacy to EIBF, it would help us greatly if you could complete this Living Legacy Pledge Form. This will enable us to claim the matching grant currently available, and to recognise your gift appropriately.

From Capital

This enables income and capital gains tax relief. For entrepreneurs, the gifting of shares, or even the beneficial interest while retaining legal title and voting rights in shareholdings, can mean that the proceeds on a sale are passed to the SMF scheme with no income or capital gains taxes due by the donor or the EIBF charity.
